Dana Hofer in Des Plaines, IL. Extremely good work and a great guy to work with; many professional Chicago musicians trust him with their instruments, including several notable tuba players.

However, other than having an ultrasound setup, they do not appear to have anyone who is a "brass person."

What would also be useful would be a list of shops that can do valve (piston or rotary) overhaul and rebuilding (plating, honing, etc.), such as what used to be done by Anderson.

Mike himself worked on my tubas and euphoniums. He does not do major dent work that involves taking the tuba apart.

They just finished major dent work on my Cerveny Kaiser 601 BBb which involved taking it apart. I am pleased with their work.

Beeman Brass in Eastlake Ohio does wonderful work. I have a working partnership with them for larger jobs that I'm not currently equipped to do.
Shameless plug, Ferris Brass in Pandora Ohio. Just west of Findlay and north of Lima. I am currently working on getting a full overhaul setup, but I can do most repairs and modifications. I did a formal apprenticeship in Cleveland where we worked mostly on high-end vintage french horn restoration.
