Somebody explain small bore big body tuba; I can get the small bore, but a BBb is a BBb length wise and so forth, so what does "big body" mean?

big wide bell expansion, 19.5 inch bell on a bore size of around .668

That looks like euphonium tubing around the valves! Almost.

Can anybody say "French horn?" Talk about big bell on small bore, that is it. However, it seems that the science of tapers has pretty well fixed slotting problems on horns. Thank Walter Lawson for that.

Does anyone dare?

I guess it's funny that it's the one sort of conical brass that has a specific, distinct form. A casual observer would never notice any difference between any one of them, right? But the normally-known-as conical brass - flugelhorn down to contrabass tuba - the field is so wide open that we define different instruments in the same length (Bb tenor vs. bass.)
