Bobby Troup was not only a bass player, composer, actor, and husband of a hot babe, but also a tuba player. I think his birthday was yesterday. This Wikipedia article doesn't say very much, and you can find out a lot more about him using a search engine.
I think many more people would recognize him as the songwriter of Route 66 than as the Dr. from Emergency. I only know the show because it was frequently on at the barbershop I used to go to (before the barber retired are the all too young age of 80).
But you are right that Julie London, Nurse Dix, was quite the looker.

I don't claim that my own interests are the most diverse or the most esoteric, but I most recognize this song of his. My understanding is that it was written to give all the wind players chops a break, but it became a huge hit. I think it might have been at the top of the charts for two months in 1941.

immediately previous:
My parents having been born in 1916, the "big band" music of the mid-30's through mid-40s' ending up being "THEIR" music, (me - as a small child) my mother introduced me to a great deal of it...
...and yeah (I'm told that) by the time as was 2-1/2 or so, I was operating the record player...My 12-1/2-years-older brother (so 15, when I was 2-1/2) "burned" into to me to avoid touching or scratching the recordings...and to be PARTICULARLY careful with the "L.P.'s".
EVEN FURTHER OFF-TOPIC SIDEBAR:
They were the same age (within less than two months), but here's a picture of my Dad at 21 and my Mom at 17.
He was not career Navy, but enlisted during WWII and again during the Korean "Conflict".
My Mom ended up being even prettier as she grew into a lady, and was both a commercial artist (not paperless, and some of you may recall that I've revealed that she was a student of Grant Wood at the University of Iowa) and a clothes model for magazine ads.
...When I was in the primary grades - and she would show up at the school (PTA stuff or whatever), the others (whose moms were in their 20's when my Mom was in her 40's) would say stuff like, "WOW !!! is that YOUR mom...?!?! She's PRETTY !!!!"
