I should, shouldn't i?

I imagine the answer is boring and practical.

Whereas it is more fun to soeculate.

It is a little pillow so the player can micronap while waiting for their entrance.

Or an oxygen mask for playing at altitude. Please put your own on before assisting the trumpet section?

Or an inflatable life raft or overboard dye pack to assist a water helicopter rescue?

I bet it contains the lead pipe. I’ve got a Conn of that vintage and the lead pipe is very long and flat. You rarely see them nowadays - suspect they were easy to lose. It’s easier to store as well as transit in the car with it separate. With a huge collection like they have it would be easier and less likely to lose if taped to the horn. I keep my lead pipe, bits, valve oil and mouthpiece in a separate bari sax pouch.

It could also be that yellowish foam used in padding, taped to the upper loop. I'm thinking the upper loop was maybe digging into the player's chest area while in play, so yellow spongy foam was taped to it to pad it a bit. I dunno :smilie5:

Also, the big brace connecting the bell with the upper branch is busted/broken at the brace foot.
