This is my friend, Wally Fowler.
He's a trombone player, former member of a touring show band...THIS one: https://www.discogs.com/artist/4839271- ... an-Showmen (remember those?), has led two really fine "big bands" over the years (as well as a jazz combo I played in with him M-F from 6-9 P.M., which featured a very google-able front line - including this guy, as an example: https://www.google.com/search?client=fi ... ob+marbach )...I've played the 4th bone book once or twice in Wally's current big-band...It's a fine band!...THIS one: https://www.jubilationjazz.com , and - prior to "retiring" - Wally sold endless millions of bucks worth of "fundraiser" stuff at schools (so he's not a "starving artiste"). He's also a (very long-time) PANCREATIC cancer survivor. Oh yeah: He's a missionary. When he picks up actually playable instruments, he takes them to third-world countries, teaches the kids how to play them (to get them paying attention) and then tells them about Jesus.
When I first moved out to blokeplace, he cajoled me into making a couple of sculptures for him out of a random mess of old musical instrument parts (to put out by his pool). After reminding him about two hundred times that I'm not any sort of "artiste visuale" (OK...though my Mom was), I relented...(Hey - ok...you'll have to take my word for it: They look better than most of the $h!t the government routinely commissions to memorialize peeps.)
After he saw that a NO-talent bloke could come up with something, he tried his hand at it (as well as painting). He's actually been SELLING stuff - probably for the last fifteen-or-so years.
This is fairly recent: (yeah...He's as nutty as I am.)
