U.S. Army Band TEW 2025 - Who's Going?

Post by Lee Stofer »

As I understand it, the Pershing's Own Band Hall and the Exhibit area are repaired, and the Tuba-Euphonium Workshop 2025
will be back in the normal housing. Last year was challenging, but I'm looking forward to the upcoming Workshop, for a couple
of reasons.

We're working towards having some quite interesting tubas, euphoniums and accessories there, but the big news is the company
sharing the booth with us. Torpedo/Cronkhite Bags is joining us in the exhibit hall this year, represented by President Steve Kreisel
and Sales Manager Jen Burleigh-Bentz. They plan to have a significant selection of tuba and euphonium bags present, as well as
Torpedo and Cronkhite bags for other instruments as well. One table at the booth will be a dedicated fitting table, where you can
have your instrument personally measured by the maker. You are invited to have your instrument measured, regardless of whether
you're in the market for a bag or not. Jen and I are on a mission to update, improve and expand the fitment list, and you are invited
to participate in the process.

I'm looking forward to seeing longtime friends, and meeting new ones!

It's a REALLY great thing, and I really enjoy seeing all the folks (as well as my brother).
...It's just a bit too far, particularly when we detour to pick up display merch.,
and - half the time - there's snow (this: with our rear-wheel drive cargo van).
The other half of the time, there's (though it's an odd time of the year) some last-minute gig offered over the same weekend.
Most people know about my mouthpieces, and - by now - know about the build quality of JP.
Individual tubas - you guys (here at tubaforum) usually snatch them up before I find any need to list them elsewhere.
educational opportunities: I'm too old and have too many bad habits to benefit from quality instruction from my betters.
bowling alley food: I'll miss it.

I look forward to another TUSAB Workshop, especially if Lee is correct and it is back where it belongs. Last year was clunky, to say the least, but better than nothing.
Maybe we should all wear badges? lol :smilie2:

Planning to go, seems the exact schedule isn’t up yesterday but the guest artists look amazing. Like the idea of badges, although in my experience tuba people are not hard to talk to when surrounded by the similarity afflicted. Missed it last year due to illness.

It is odd that the TUSAB website is still not updated with information about 2025. The facebook page lists the performers/clinicians, but nothing beyond that. There is no mention anywhere about the locations for the workshops, or whether or not Bruckner Hall is to be used or not. There is information that the grand concert will be held at Schlesinger again this year instead of on the base; nice setting, but not all that convenient for a lot of attendees.
Does anyone have any updates not shared on their website? 3 weeks from today!

Pleased to meet you! The only information available so far is that we will have the honor or hearing you in person, Daniel! I look forward to it!

Will be there with many bells. I have lots of tubas and euphoniums in the showroom right now (Lidl, Eastman, Willson, Adams, Yamaha) along with gig bags, Schlipf mutes, and more accessories. Might need a bigger truck.

See you all there.

I wish I had found a way to do it year before last, when it was still in the realm of being able to do it independently. Last year would have been pushing it and I would have ended up being a bit of a pest I think, and this year would be impossible. Oh well, we don't get to do everything in life that we want.

I am seriously considering attending if at all possible. However, I am quite the babe in the woods about the arrangements. The last time I went was decades ago and I only went for the day. This time I would want to stay for the whole thing. So I have tons of questions.

1. Do you have to pre register? If so, how do you do that? I couldn’t find it on their web site.
2. Recommendations for motels nearby that are reasonably priced?
3. How difficult is it to get though the gates onto the base? What kind of documents do you need for security?
