Portland usually has their TC on the second Saturday of December. So with it being today I have plenty of time to prep the costume and tuba for it. With everything ready to load and I left early enough to be on time. But then I left my phone and had to get it. Never needed it before I had one. Stop at the store for munchies, cashier did not know what she was doing. After parking, walk to the place for the morning practice. Not that any of us old guys really need to, but is nice to see all of the other old guys you only see once a year. They changed the location, I did not double check. Sadly I guided a first time HS kid to the wrong place. After checking where we should have gone. I sent him there. But it was six blocks up hill and at 73, I am not rolling a 32 lb tuba up hill. So I stopped at the concert site that was only 2 blocks up hill.

Now as most of you know I am an Elf in full costume, and I play a beautiful 6/4 silver York with a 26 inch recording bell. So for three hours I got to clown around with the people passing by, and the families of the other TC player who were waiting. Much more fun.

The weather call for rain as normal here in Portland and it did in the morning, with more expected during the concert. But the rain stopped and held off until we finished and had started to pick up. I still got to at least say "Hi" to all of the other old guys and to some of the young ones who have been away for a long time. And with just under 400 players, a record for Portland, We/I had a very good day.

Playing happily in Portland,
CCC
