Looks like the seller is the owner of Meridian Winds? I reached out to his email listed on the company's website to confirm.
Maybe it’s a personal page vs the company page? It would make a good explanation. Luckily, email messages are cheap!hrender wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2025 10:32 am From the text in the item description and the list of other items for sale, it appears someone is retiring and is doing a purge of random things in their personal possession. Caveat emptor always applies on internet sales, but this looks fairly normal.
Regarding the multiple listings, no idea, but I've seen it with other vendors from whom I've bought things without issue.
I thought of you when I saw this post and wondered if you were going to try and get it. Sorry it didn't work this time. Best of luck in your search!York-aholic wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2025 10:52 am I did the same last night. The wife even said okay. Don't laugh, I was up until 1am figuring out airline flights, rental cars, etc. Was a bit worried that I'd get someone at the gate in a less than great mood and trouble so even looked into flying to Michigan, then taking Amtrak on the return leg with the tuba (48 hours on the train). In the end, I decided to sleep on it. Alas, it sold just now.
So, if anyone has anything comparable, ie a 712 or 716 within an 18 hour drive of SoCal, please let me know. I'm aiming to have a mid-life crisis soon and buy one of these models either in great shape (original or restored) or in decent but fairly complete condition to be completely restored. Seriously, if you have either of these models in any condition with 18 hours of me, that you'd like to find a 'forever home' for, please give me a holler.
Do you know if Amtrak will let you bring a tuba into the coach or do you have to check it in the baggage car? Can you buy a seat for the tuba and will they honor that? I’m curious as I’ve thought about doing that, but it’s been decades since I’ve been on Amtrak and I’m sure the rules are all different now.York-aholic wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2025 10:52 am I did the same last night. From what I read, smaller instruments can be brought in lieu of one of your allotted bags. Larger instruments (their website specifically mentioned cellos, bass saxophones and tubas) as oversized package, while may only be brought on if a second seat is purchased for the instrument.tofu wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2025 11:40 pm
