rescue tubas

...so on TV, there’s this organization that shows sad pictures of little animals…mostly dogs…appearing to frown...and they’re shivering and such...
They want me to send them money, so that I will feel good when I see those pictures, instead of feeling bad.
I don’t think it would work with me, but maybe it works with a lot of other people…??
Here’s what I’m wondering:
Do you think I could make some dough off of showing sad pictures of beat up tubas on TV and ask people to send me money to “rescue“ poor old abused tubas…??
I’m really trying to figure out how to make some decent dough in this Covid economy…

Nice try!
The real objective is to find good homes where they can happily play with new people.

You mean these aren't tornisters strapped on the necks of the St. Bernards sent out after avalanches?

There’s a legitimate spin on the notion of someone going about the country and fixing instruments in need. There is a BBC program(me), “The Repair Shop”, where they do rescue heirlooms and restore them. It’s a very good show.

I have always suspected that businesses - that are on reality shows - make more money off the reality shows, than they do off their actual businesses.

I think in most cases this is true.
Case being that a model for something akin to your original request exists and is done fairly well with some actual respect for all of the people involved.

Isn't that the whole idea??

Seems that I am in the rescue tuba business, at least according to my wife - totally unfunded. So far, I have "repaired" (using the term loosely) and re-homed about a dozen horns. Does that make me TubaSanta? Guess I should start charging a re-homing fee!

I tend to (eventually...though sometimes a couple of decades) sell even my painstakingly-built "project" tubas...because I strive to never fall in love with "stuff", and only "love" what any particular "stuff" is doing for me.

blokeprojects, when made available for sale, are appreciated by many, with some showing their appreciation with greenbacks.

I bet opening the secret Bloke parts stash in the attic to Frankentuba builders would net you a nice chunk of change.
