Boosey & Co BBb tuba plus Hercules stand for sale, only $325
This very large tuba has beautiful floral engraving on the bell and Art Deco style embellishments on the tubing. The text on the bell states "Imperial model, Solbron class A, compensating pistons, Boosey & Co Ltd, Makers, London, British Throughout" Serial number is a little hard to read but I looked it up and think it is might be early 1930s? The valves move up and down easily when lightly pressed. It is very tarnished on the surface, there is still some silver underneath, but in other places the brass is clearly showing through. Has not been played, cleaned or polished for at least 5 years, so definitely needs some TLC. Has one small dent and there is also a small round repair patch at the top of the tubing, shown in pictures. The mouthpiece is modern I believe. Very willing to answer questions as best I can, but I am not a tuba player so please excuse any ignorance on my part. This item is located in Houston TX and available for pickup if anybody is interested (I don't know any way to ship this safely, it is so large and heavy.)
