Why are German tubas engraved with "Made in Germany" instead of "Hergestellt in Deutschland"?

Is that so for the domestic as well as import/N. American market??

Instead of posting some questionable knowledge of mine I googled it: It's marketing, UK introduced it as a sign for inferior quality and had it marked on all german products entering UK and the germans just transformed it into a sign of quality (see Wikipedia for details) and used it for all exports. One occasionally also sees "Hergestellt in Deutschland", but mainly on food packaging and the like.
My B&S tubas are also marked "Made in Germany" and they were sold directly from Germany to Switzerland.

The American McKinley Act of 1891 required that all instruments be labeled with information on where it was manufactured. After 1896 the McKinley Act was amended to state that the country label must also be in English. A later law in 1923 added "made in ". . . to the requirement.
