SOLD: Boston Band Instrument Co. BBb

Post by tubanh84 »

In an effort to streamline belongings, I am looking for a new home for my Boston Band Instrument Company BBb. When I acquired the horn, I looked up the serial number and it put it at being manufactured in about 1916.

I've had it for a couple years and toot on it every now and then. I kept meaning to get it overhauled/restored, but that's not in the cards. As it is, it would be a fun conversation piece to bring to a Tuba Christmas. The valves move, but are certainly not quickly.

It has the old small shank, and it comes with what I have to believe is an original mouthpiece.

It has removable extensions on the main tuning slide so it can play in high pitch or modern pitch. (Or if you've ever wanted a tuba in B....).

If you think you might be interested but want to hear it, PM me, and I can email you a video. But I'm pretty picky with what of my playing I'll post publicly, so I probably won't post a YouTube or Facebook video.

I acquired it in a cardboard box. As a result, it doesn't have a case. I have polished it since acquiring it (and since these pictures were taken).

I'm located in the New Hampshire seacoast region. I will drive a couple hours for a sale (southern Maine, eastern Massachusetts, or most of New Hampshire). Otherwise, buyer pays shipping.

I'll start the bidding at $350. But I'm happy to consider any and all reasonable offers.

Thumbs up on a cool tuba!

I am sure a moderator will chime in, but my understanding is the rules of the forum encourage a set asking price, rather than bidding.

I'll get in line somewhere behind bisontuba if it is only $350.

Apologies - I didn't mean actual bidding. Just using a euphemism.

$350 is the set price.
