@bloke and a few of us were speculating on how rare these horns are in the USA several months back when one popped up. Interesting to see another.

I have everything here to put together an early-to-mid 60s 3+1 compensating B-flat Besson with a detachable bell (as I already have 17 inch and 19 inch detachable upright bells that fit Besson), and also (likely, the one that will be used the most) a 24 inch recording bell, and with the fancier nickel silver slide tubes, as they were sold both ways.
It’s something that I believe I would like to keep, once fixed up…but the proof will be in the playing. Having played a three valve compensating version (24” recording bell) with tight valves, I’m completely hooked…and I would predict that others would be as well, had they been afforded the privilege of the same experience (wow!).

I AM intrigued by these smaller-bore (as “smaller” rarely ruins designs, yet “bigger“ often ruins designs) Yamaha early-issue instruments (even though - obviously - no recording bell option), but also have found that Yamaha has never made the very best of anything, other than that - so far – a 6/4 C tuba (something in which I’m no longer interested).

It's got a USAB sticker on the case, so it presumably has an owner with some experience playing it in a pro group. The location (Capon Bridge, WV) is close to I-81, and it's within a reasonable drive from folks in Eastern PA or Western MD/VA.
