Hard case for mouthpieces?
My gig bag for the Conn has just one large pocket, so naturally everything goes in that pocket. I'd like something more than just a soft mouthpiece case for protection, and a more secure locking than Velcro (zipper, latch, etc.).
Anything out there like that?
I don't mind something not originally intended for mouthpieces, but I don't know if there's a "best" choice.
Currently eyeing this, but it might not close with a tuba mouthpiece:

Yes, it would! This is a much better option!

Re: Hard case for mouthpieces?
Turned out not to be the best fit for that pocket. It would go in but the zipper wouldn't shut. No biggie, because this is perfect for my MXL 991 mic with shock mouth, so I'm keeping it for that. I think a better idea is in a mouthpiece pouch, and then into a hard sunglass case. That should be great protection.

Re: Hard case for mouthpieces?
I've been using tube socks as mouthpiece pouches for about 40 years. Good protection, doesn't take up alot of space, and you just toss it in the laundry once in awhlie. Probably too low tech for most on here but I just thought I'd put it out there. Ed
Re: Hard case for mouthpieces?
Actually, I've been using tube socks, too. Problem is I throw it loose in that pocket, and it occasionally falls out of the sock and is in the pocket loose with everything else. Not a big deal, but I think I need to treat these mouthpieces like glass from now on to avoid any more brass skin reactions.
Also, my students/girlfriend looked at the tube sock thing with disgust. To be fair, my trombone sock doubled as my inner slide cleaner, but it was just to get rid of extraneous slide cream before/after playing sessions.
The plan was to stick a protector brush in the mouthpiece, the mouthpiece in a sock, then the whole thing into a hard shell case. But I just decided to splurge and got a couple of Pro Tec pouches. The 12J gets the sunglass case because the Kanstul's case has a dedicated mouthpiece pocket.

Re: Hard case for mouthpieces?
I have a need for something like this, but, mostly for home storage as I'm tired of leaving these things just sitting out on a shelf. I have found the Messina 4-piece mouthpiece pouches to work great in my duffel bag so I don't need anything for traveling. Maybe some kind of hardware cabinet or something....

Re: Hard case for mouthpieces?
Actually, I'm thinking of buying another gun case for my extra mouthpieces for that very reason. The only thing is they still kind of need a pouch or something wrapping them in, because there is just a tad too much play inside. The RT-88+ still moved a bit when I did a test shake. But putting it in a pouch or sock would fix that quickly.
