How do these play?...
I know they are not super popular in the US. He has posted it repeatedly on CL and eBay with no takers at $1500.

I owned a 994 and it was a solid BBb tuba.
Ergonomics were a bit wonky, and most people would need a stand. Intonation was manageable without slide manipulation, because it was a necessity. Good overall sound and decent low register once you figured out the air flow.
Problem is that these really aren’t popular in the states. Maybe a brass band player would pick one up for authenticity?

picture hints at nice cosmetics.
my experiences:
Range (other than "false tones" is only to "low E", but intonation (other than a sharp E-flat in the staff...similar to the euphoniums of that era) is very good.
If a player sets one these instruments up on top of their LEFT thigh, they are really quite comfortable to hold and play...Even a bit of "slouching" is possible.
Condition of the valves (with vintage tubas of all makes) is always an unknown.
Top-action Yamaha/Besson hard cases are not commonly found, and nor are they inexpensive.
