yeah...Absentmindedly, I left it behind, as I had a lot of "gear" with me - for that particular gig...

Due to various factors (including the hall being opened to homeless people for a month or two, as well as geographic factors, such as 3 hrs. r/t driving, just to go see if it's there, and if someone might let me in, etc...) I wasn't able to go attempt to retrieve it.

(Actually, it s a vintage K&M bassoon/bass clarinet stand, which offers really safe/sturdy support, YET "quick grab" - due to loose-fitting support.)

Last night was an all-cimbasso pops concert (playing behind a cover band doing oldies rock), and - when I showed up for the one 3-hr. rehearsal - the orchestra manager had already spotted it backstage, and set it up for me.

WHICH TENDS TO REINFORCE THE LIKELY TRUTH OF THE RELATED WIDELY-REPEATED PREMISE:

"If you leave a baritone horn in the back seat of a car with the doors unlocked, there's a risk that - when you return to your car - there may be two or three more baritone horns tossed in there with it.

It WAS GOING TO BE the "Eagles" gig which (due to that cover band reneging ) became an "ANOTHER last-minute west-coast-based cover band performing 'un-themed' rock music in front of us...so the name of the concert was changed to (more generically-themed) "Symphonic Rock", or some such a thing... ' Eagles'-themed, probably, would have been more fun, THOUGH it IS always fun to see a whole bunch of well-dressed older people (in an orchestra hall) hold up their lighters or phone-lights when "Free Bird" (Lynyrd Skynyrd, obviously) is played.

The show must go on!!

There was a "tuba mic", which (and no complaints from the sound guy) I reconfig'ed it’s stand, and placed in front of the bass trombone chair.

...so I played the cimbasso WITHOUT a microphone, so I could really "pump" the thing and - thus, acoustically...in the hall - get the "buzz saw" timbre appropriate for the style of music we were playing.

...It doesn't even LOOK like a gig where a tuba would fit in...

Sounds like fun! Before I foolishly left for Chicago, the LaPorte Symphony Orchestra did a Beetles themed concert. Doc Rock was there (those guys were tight! some of the brass were already with them, Rich Watson is a powerhouse trombonist, in addition to being the second best best tuba player I've ever seen (sorry Rich, I saw Pokorny a few times!)).

Wonderful, energetic gig. I've had a few rock shows that matched that energy. They were occasionally/mostly fueled by the green room.

We're doing a "POST-Beatles" (1970-forward) pops (with cover band) NEXT season (which was cancelled, late last season).

The books were distributed, but then we turned them back in.
The show begins with one of the last Beatles tunes, and the rest of the show is stuff that "the boys" (as Ed Sullivan referred to them) recorded INDIVIDUALLY.

We're also doing Tchaik 4...It's been long enough, since we previously played that.
(We did 5 a couple of seasons ago...The blue-haired old ladies' heads hit the rafters, when I hit that low C (after the pianissimo solo bassoon descending arpeggio).
