I got to play a livestream gig with her a couple of weeks ago. She's totally amazing.
My first time playing with any of those folks. Super fun!
But to be totally honest, I was a little nervous.

I would like to put it out there that I am more than happy to hear any constructive criticism that anyone (regardless of their "mofessional" status or whatnot) has to say. This is for anything from stage presence to the wrong 5th of a chord to the need for more long tones in my practice routine, etc. I've got very little ego here so please feel free to nitpick. If we can all learn from my mistakes, I'll be sure to record more of them (for us)!
One that I'd like to point out: I guess I'm so used to folks "helping" me out with the down beats every other bar that I find myself phrasing within those parameters. For example, starting a phrase on the and of 1 (or 2) then finishing before the downbeat 2-bars later. I think some longer phrasing could add a great deal of interest to my solos. And for the record, I was not expecting Gunhild to throw me nearly as many solos as she did. Nor did I expect that there would be no drummer on the gig! Thankfully the pianist did a fantastic job at helping me keep the time.
I hope this doesn't sound like asking for free advice and instead is an opportunity for us all to learn something and become better at providing the bass voice roll. If there is particular interest in a tune, I'm happy to provide a lead sheet so that you can both see what was provided to me along with hearing what I thought what was the right thing to do.

Well not technical related, but I was always wondering if she has some kind of contract with her neighbors that lets her groups play outside there? I assume that's where they live and that's all residential housing units? I can't imagine everyone liking the live music all the time.

That's a good question. They seemed very friendly with their neighbors but I gotta believe there's at least one curmudgeon in that complex that doesn't like it. And yes, that is her front porch which is in a residential courtyard. I think that sticking (mostly) to the middle of Sundays helps with this. Also, she's one of the most charismatic people I've ever met. It'd be hard not to like her.
