Stravinsky & addictions

Post by bloke »

Sunday morning / post breakfast / stream-of-consciousness post:

Those introductory-deal online gambling commercials completely remind me of this proposition offered in “l’Histoire du Soldat”:
“the Devil” wrote:I’ll trade you that fiddle, there, for this book, here.
______________

The string bass part is not particularly difficult, but it would be interesting to see a tuba player cover it, as the work lasts about an hour, and playing is nearly constant... ‘ could be nearly the equivalent of an opening set with a jazz combo, polka band, or old-old-school “hotel” band... Concert band concerts last longer, but typically feature a good bit of microphone yatter between pieces, as well as intermissions after about forty minutes.

' didn't quite understand your wording (??)

Speaking of New England, though, this has always been my favorite recording of the work:

(This is only the introduction...I'm not sure if it's broken into small segments, or whether this is all that is uploaded...??)
