HN White KING Eb Monster Bass @ Mike Nye's
HN White KING Eb Monster Bass for sale at Mike Nye's place in Tempe, AZ.
No pictures on his website, and I didn't take one while I was there because I was seriously considering buying it, but you can probably email or call him to get the details.

Satin silver, 20" bell, 3-valves
I didn't check the serial number, but the engraving looks like the other 1920s-30s style floral pattern.
Valves looked OK, not an excessive amount of wear. Body branches and bell are in great condition! The bell doesn't look like it has ever been crushed or worked on. A quick glance over it and it doesn't look like anyone has touched it ever for any repairs. Bottom bow is a little smushed in and there are a few dings here and there, but boy-howdy, what a tuba! In-tune with modern pitch too!
$800
I'm so tempted to buy this, but it's just the wrong time for me right now.
Mike also had a few other tubas - a Miraphone 185 with a 184 bell (or it's something close to that), a Conn 20J, some other tubas and sousaphones too. Might be worth a call.

The one on the left looks very similar to the Tuba Exchange TE-1915 BB (Miraphone 191 copy) that I used to own.

I dropped off my OTS for some work (rotor repair and bell modification) and this Eb Monster is still there...

I wrote him last week and he didn't have any idea how much it would cost to ship, he said he never shipped a tuba before. As far as cost, he said "I don't know.. a lot???"

Re: HN White KING Eb Monster Bass @ Mike Nye's
Yea, he's mostly local sales. I know he's shipped Greyhound before, he and I have talked about it, but with how Greyhound has gone downhill, I doubt he's much interested in shipping. If you could convince him to use something like one of the LTL carriers (there's a thread on here somewhere about which ones are good)....
I brought in my OTS for repairs and his told me to come back a week later, after he had caught up with school repairs - when he can do other things. It has no case, as far as I'm aware, so he'd have to come up with a box and packing material... which he may be less interested in doing. Put it this way, he's worked on my OTS before and even though I brought it in again, he claims to have never seen it before. I think he's just overwhelmed with work and things.
You want me to bug him about it, see if I can figure out something?

I think it's priced fair for a local sale, but tack on shipping fees and it would be over payment for a 3 valve Eb. I wish it was closer so I could drive out to see it.

I think it is, I'm heading down there this afternoon (in about an hour) to see Mike about it - I'm certainly not buying it, but gonna try to get a little video or audio of it.
Best to call Mike Nye's shop.

I don't play well compared to the vast majority of you on this forum, I just enjoy playing.

Yeah, I'd replace the corks and maybe do a soap bubble test. Good compression, though.
