Re: Rotary Jupiter tuba
Looks like a YBB-621 with rotors pasted onto the bugle. I would love to try that horn out for fun.

Re: Rotary Jupiter tuba
I’ve seen them on line and played the Mack Brass knockoff. It was fun but blatty. That was with the 14in bell like the Jupiter.
With the 16in bell I’d be willing to give it another look, but personally went with the piston.

I played one at a show, it wasn't pretty decent. It doesn't need a lot of effort to make it sound good. Very easy to play and manage. I was impressed with the feel of the valves.

Jim Laabs (no comment) has the same horn by Schiller, at 1/3 the price of a new Jupiter.bort2.0 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 04, 2021 9:01 pm I'm not interested, but I've never seen one of these before...

Re: Rotary Jupiter tuba
Those two horns are *very* different. Not the same design at all. Download and open the two photos side-by-side.
So far as I know, all Laab's horns are Chinese. Jupiter is (or was) Taiwanese. Also quite different.
