I need to buy a gig bag for a larger than average tuba. I generaly know the options as well as anyone, but it's been a while since I've owned one of these.
I'm particularly thinking of my old Marzan, for which I had a Cronkite bag. It was well made and fit just right, of course... But it was a bit unwieldy, and whatever the opposite of svelte is... It was that. I think what particularly bothered me was that around the body it looked fine, but then around the bell it was just kind of goofy looking.
Contrast this to the Cronkite bag for the Cerveny 653 F tuba, which was quite svelte and had an overall much better look and non - goofiness to it.
But then again, tuba bags are goofy looking, I suppose.
Any thoughts from this? Are huge Cronk's not as bad looking as I think?
I typically have gone with Gotz, because I really like top-loaders... But for something big, I'm thinking side load might be the way to go.
Thanks!

Although Cronkite bags are local to us now their service really leaves something to be desired. I’ve been very impressed with Superfine cases. In fact I think you turned me on to them!

Götz will add a zipper down the side using a more effective design than the clamshell design of a Cronkhite.

Thanks! And yes Superfine is top of the list...just making sure I'm not forgetting any options, or if anything seems particularly "good" or "better" (whatever that means!) for the big big stuff. Another thing, opening a huge clamshell bag on the floor takes up so much space!
