Another 186

Based on the stickers on the case, this horn seems to have had an interesting life. Seller seems to be a real-life picker.

I am not a fan of that era of the 186 with th4 smaller leadpipe. I am sure it is a very good horn, though. The price is way too high for what it is, IMHO. Unless it possesses the very voice of the Tuba God it is every bit a $2500 tuba, maybe $2750. I bet the valves are leaky.

I laughed at the seller's description of the single most common rotary valved tuba in the US as being "rare"…

I thought the smaller leadpipe was on earlier Miraphones and the newer ones got a larger one? What years did that start and what are the drawbacks?

Just an obervation: BBb Mirafone in good condition $750 valve - C Mirafone $1k per valve. Unlike Wade, I am a fan of the smaller leadpipe. It is like oysters - an acquired taste.
