First valve slides that fit and run *very* well usually like straight 3inONE on them.

I use a mix of lamp oil and 3inONE on old, worn rotor bearings and noisy metal-to-metal linkages. I apply the 3inONE and then drip lamp oil onto the parts until the action feels right to me.

I mix a small amount with lamp oil for old pistons or old rotor walls. I drip about 50 drops (0.1 oz) into an old Hetman's bottle and fill it with lamp oil for a total of about 2 ounces. (I believe that is a 20:1 ratio.) I keep a red piece of tape on that bottle. The other bottle (another Hetman's needle bottle) with straight lamp oil has no tape on it. Very simple and easy to see in a darkened space, and easy to mix and refill when needed.

I think Joe is also a big adherent of mixing the stuff with lamp oil. I always mixed 3inONE with Al Cass for my worn stuff. Now that Joe has me happily using the lamp oil I sort of migrated that practice to the new product. It works great. Highly recommended.

I use 3-N-1 oil for the paddle linkage bearings on a rotary tuba. My opinion is that it is too thick for the rotor spindle bearings, on which I use sewing machine oil.

It's handy...but the odor is strong...

...which is why (IF I need something like that (rotor bearings, rotor levers, linkages, etc.) I might motor oil and lamp oil to about the same consistency as 3 in 1.

I *love* that smell. Please send me your lifetime allotment of 3inONE. I will happily drizzle it on everything. Of course, I also love gas and diesel fumes.

And Blue Juice. Blue Juice rocks!
