Statler Brothers on tuba? My friend and bandmate Don said, “Why not?”
I wish I had the time to play the tuba parts as good as I wanted and clean up a couple of notes and rhythms, but with limited time, I had to go John Daly on it (grip it and rip it).
1974 B&S goldbrass 6v Symphonie F tuba
Harold’s part - Miraphone Hagen 496 BBb
Are you playing tunes yet?

Nice!
That song has some of my favorite lyrics.
Counting flowers on the wall
That don't bother me at all
Playing solitaire till dawn with a deck of fifty-one
Smoking cigarettes and watching Captain Kangaroo
Now don't tell me I've nothing to do.

Definitely good lyrics. I originally wanted to do this as a quartet, but I don't have time for such a project, unless it was spaced out over weeks. I always thought Harold's part on Captain KANGaroo was begging for tuba (enter the Hagen ). I'd like another run at intonation in a couple spots, but people in hell want ice water, too. Whether it's worth a darn or not, it is fun, and maybe it will get someone to play tunes. And doing these fun tunes with my bandmate (reed man and piano man, former career Navy bandsman) has been a nice change and an enjoyable outlet. We talk song titles, he makes up an arrangement, plays all the individual band parts, then we lay solo tracks on top. Part of the fun is that I have no idea what the arrangement will be. It's often different than what I would have done, but I like the idea of fresh/new/different.

@Doc
Oh, yeah? Well, I'll trade you a Chuck Dallenbach bomb for a Hagen bomb! Their reactions are hysterical!)
