I'm becoming "European-made-compensating-euphonium poor", so I'm thinking of selling those which are the most prestigious makes and - thus, hopefully - will bring the most money, and (being a mere doubler) hanging on to one of them...perhaps (at least judged by most) holding on to the one which (likely) would sell for the least.
First, this Willson 2900 is NOT the one that is currently offered on eBay. ...I'm NOT that person...
...but mine is also raw brass. (The original lacquer "checked", likely due to the wrong mix of lacquer/thinner/drying retarder at the factory.)
It's right at "perfect". There may be surface scratches or a slight chip, but that's it.
Also, I've "tricked out" the slide alignment (as this was never a "forte" with these instruments).
Additionally, I've put water keys on ALL the slides...so no clanking/dumping required.
The patina is fairly dark, and (being genuine patina) looks better than those fake patinated finishes.
The valve tolerances are like new, though this instrument is certainly not knew.
I have it in a very small "just fits" unobtrusive (does NOT scream, "STEAL ME !") wood case that's in fine shape.
It features the 11" bell diameter.
I swapped out the receiver for a genuine Kurath/Willson large-shank receiver, so that HUNDREDS of mouthpieces fit this instrument, rather than a dozen or so.
If someone owns NO euphonium mouthpiece, I can toss in a flawless/Bach-looking-exterior large shank generic 51D.
I'll let it go for $4000 firm plus actual FedExGround cost. (Yes, I have an account, and will NOT pay someone else to pack it.)
Otherwise, I'm going to trick out the finish, hypnotize some youngster with bling, and get mo' money for it later.
I'm forcing myself to type this (I REALLY LIKE this instrument), but - if there seems to be interest regarding THIS instrument in THIS condition at THIS price point, I'll put up some REALLY good pictures...but (as I've got other stuff to do, this week) please only say you're interested if you actually might possibly be interested in buying it (and not just interested in seeing pictures...because it really doesn't look any different from my verbal description.
Thanks!
Willson 2900 professional model euphonium
