Looks like and with same specs as a St. Pete. Slightly taller bell stack. Looks good.

Yes its based on an old bohemian model like the st.petersburg. but i have to mention that the Nirschl plays 3 times better than the st.petes premium goldbrass model

I have been on the edge of switching back to Bb for my every day contrabass tuba. (The nice thing about not playing/auditioning for a living - I can make tuba choices based on "fun" and "why not?")
This pushes me closer to the brink.

Walter is offering an introduction price of 7000 Euro (laquered/ 4 valves) including all taxes. So its really affordable!! The intention with this tuba was to build a very very fine playing tuba for reasonable price. The frist tubas were sold to orchestral players but the tuba is fine for players of all levels and i think especially good for windbands
I also have to mention that this fantastic price is possible because there are no dealer involved in this project

Probably a dumb question... But there have been a lot of iterations of the Nirschl brand. Is this one made in Germany?

As you can imagine for that price this tuba is not fully handmade, but the quality ist really high standard and the valves are meinlschmidt (highest quality in the world)
Walter can make a full handmade version of this tuba but maybe that would be double price. As I mentioned befor the intention was to build a very fine instrument for affordable price. I can tell you that i was really impressed by the quality of the tuba, for me it was equal to meinl- weston tubas, and i know what i'm talking about because i play a lot of meinl-weston F and Bb-flat Tubas (197,195 and 4260 models)
All my colleagues that i showed this tuba where very impressed by the playing abilities

Just curious are any parts made in China then assembled and finished in Germany or is everything German origin? I know Roland Meinl Blasinstruments in the early 2000's was importing the bells and bows from China and assembling the rest in Germany aka "Schmidt" stencil/Sanders Artist for Custom Music USA.

Even if it were it would be fine by me.
Like my grandaddy used to say: "The MORE tubas you have the better off you are"
