wonderful human being…tuba player… band director…father - of a tuba player…Tennesseean…

has been suffering with pancreatic cancer.😢
Indications seem to point towards possibly being in his last days …or hours.
Pray that he doesn’t suffer badly in these times, and that God is with his family.

found an online picture - from last year at his school - at the end of the year, when he was already on leave, and with his colleagues and students expressing their admiration and appreciation for him:

Tracy Luna is a good friend of mine. I first interacted with him when selling an anvil flight case. I went to many events with him at Ball State when he was doing doctoral studies there. When I had a hurting back and my BBC stand was being made, he gave me a tuba stand that he sent with a friend heading down. He let me stay at his place when Gene Pokorny was giving a recital and money was tight. He took me to the MWRTEC tuba conference at ILSTU a month before I got married so we could split the hotel. I have spent many of hours talking to him about tuba solo literature online, life, and during some of my hardest times, he was always encouraging. At the written part of my doctorate, I was banging my head and having frustrations and he helped so much. One following bit of encouragement was during a mouthpiece trade, I got this and it made me smile and helped me finish. [url=https://ibb.co/mhbtSXn]Image This is the type of person he is.

I was looking through pictures and I realized that through all of this time, I never got a picture with him. We always used our time enjoying our time and experiences.

He is in my prayers, and I hope he can continue to fight through this.

On his way leaving this world, apparently he had a stroke a few days ago - and was no longer able to talk, but was conscious.
Now he is unconscious, and his wife is playing concert band music in the living room where his hospital bed is located. She reports that she believes that he is no longer in pain.

She is posting on his fb page, and people are sending their best wishes.
She is overwhelmed by all of the “tuba“ people who are stopping by and posting.

@Dan Tuba

That same weekend - (my concert in Jackson, TN) that my friend met you at that gas station, and relayed the sousaphone you were selling to him to hand off to me to hand off to the buyer (with neither of us being part of that deal - just "carriers"), I also drove the other direction - towards you, to another nearby gas station - to hand a sousaphone off to Tracy Luna’s son, Victor, who is a fine young tuba player. I’m sure Tracy is extremely proud of his son. I suspect Victor will follow in his father‘s legacy with tuba playing and band directing, and it was an honor to meet Victor. I’m embarrassed that I’m not quite sure about this, but I believe that Victor is probably one of Winston Morris’s students.
Tracy had planned to ride with a friend to meet me to pick up that sousaphone, but texted me that morning - stating that he had to be rushed back into the hospital. Very sadly, that moment was probably the beginning of the end.

Wow, that's terrible. I have been following his condition on Facebook. I never had the opportunity to meet Tracy, nor his son Victor in person. However, I corresponded with Tracy through Facebook/email over the past few years. I pray for peace and comfort for him and his family during this very difficult time. I always take comfort in knowing that the sufferings of the present time don't compare to the glory that is to be revealed, to those called according to His purpose. For these things I have written, that you may know that you have eternal life...

The memorial service is December 30 in the afternoon at Washington Avenuev Baptist Church in Cookeville, Tennessee.
An exact time has not been announced.
When it is announced, I would imagine that a resourceful person would be able to figure out when it’s going to be, if they are interested in attending.
(Everyone is telling me that the only times they can get their fairly-major-jobs repaired stuff picked up for me is between Christmas and New Year’s, so I won’t be able to go.)

Clicking the "thank" button seems.so inappropriate, but just to mean, thanks for sharing the details with everyone, and I'm so sorry for the loss of such a good person who knew so many people. RIP, Tracy Luna

Tuba player seem to be so friendly… It was a sad day when we all lost Richard Brown, years ago…and also way too young.
