Anyhow, it’s cool to see these, but it’s already at a ridiculously high price.

ILBG is @saxophyte, I think. Vintage hellebergs go for large sums, so it's not a bad starting price. Whether it is worth it is in the eye of the beholder.

I’m all for getting the price you can get. It can still boggle my mind what people are willing to pay.

Quite a few new mouthpieces in that neighborhood, so it's really not that bad. Somebody will want it for that price.

Is this something that is supposed to get restored and *gasp* used, or something to be preserved in this condition in someone else's sock drawer?

Fwiw the seller is a decent guy to deal with, despite the un-PC ebay handle.

I don't know what a Helleberg of this vintage usually goes for, but I would guess the price is probably somewhere in fair territory.

Gotta love the olde school styling. If I bought this, I would have it replated and play on it

Get a Conn 2 and take a hammer to the rim, to make it just a little flatter. With some luck that might get you about there, and you can afford to repeat the experiment several times and come out ahead.

Is that even restorable?
