Have you ever seen this type of instrument?
This is an army trombone and was invented by V.F.Cerveny in 1867.
The instrument was built as a cavalry instrument because a valved trombone was too uncomfortable.
In 1868 V.F.Cerveny received an award from His Majesty King Dom Louis I of Portugal for supplying him with one of the most magnificent instruments.
In the picture you can see (from left to right)

- Anton Hüttl F-Bass with 4 valves (high tuning)
- V.F.Cerveny B-Tenor (Normal Tuning)
- Without manufacturer F-Bass (high tuning)
