That piano has been built by Belgian piano maker Maene, that's less than a 30 minutes drive from my place!
If only there were a tuba maker within that distance

On the tuba/euphonium fazebluff page, a young man in continental Europe grumped at me (who knows why me, and no one else…??) because one of my posts only had to do with America - even though Americans started that page and mostly Americans are on it…
… but I’m trying to look at more things (interesting things) that are outside of America, and post them for those here who might find them to be of interest.

I bought a recording of Barenboim performing the Goldberg Variations years ago when I was scheduled to see a string quartet perform an arrangement of them. We happened to be expecting our daughter at the time, and she kicked every time she heard Barenboim play. So my opinion of the recording is SLIGHTLY BIASED. Full disclosure.
However. The first five notes of that recording may be the most perfectly performed notes I have ever heard. Heartbreaking sweetness is the only way I can describe them. How he does that in a few notes on an instrument that takes as much control away from you as the piano does still boggles my mind.
I'll listen to anything he does. Without question.

After looking at this thread on a full-size screen (as I typed it originally on my phone) – I see that - even after RE-fixing the spelling of his name TWICE in the title, my phone changed it to something else AGAIN just as I posted the thread.
