I just installed a metal lid hinge on my tuba case (to prevent the lid from flopping backwards).
I was too stupid to realize that it would hit up against the mouthpiece storage box in the corner of the case.
I guess I understand now why case manufacturers rivet canvas strap material across that corner, instead of using metal mechanical hinges.
OTOH…
I could simply declare this to be “The Science“ (via dictate), and then it wouldn’t matter whether it actually works or not.
oh yeah…
…and I could buy up all the canvas strap material, and hold it back from distribution - or simply make it illegal.
