Adams E3
Short action valves
Sterling silver bell
Tuning trigger
Bonna case

I should have it in a week or less. I got it for $7K, which is 5K less than it would cost to order it brand new.

Absolutely beautiful, congratulations! From what I understand, you will barely need the trigger. That's a keeper!

That's what I've heard too. I don't even need one on my Packer. I can always remove it if it gets in the way.

Better to have it and not need it than need it and not having it

yep

Decided this morning I was in the market, started doing a search in the used market, found the exact horn I was looking for, made an offer slightly less than the asking price, it was accepted, paid for it right away.

:smilie8: Just the idea of a sterling bell appeals to me.

How short is the valve action? Is there a non-round path through the piston, or the ports are just packed together more than average?

When I played one at TMEA before, they were very short. I think the ports are oval. I'll post pics when I get it

Just for curiosity’s sake, what is the point of the solid silver bell? Is it aesthetic only? Or is there a perception that this would affect the tone in some positive way?

I’m personally considering a “somewhat major purchase” in the way of an instrument. My strategy is to tread very slowly.
I plan to drive all the way to where it is, play it for about 30 to 45 minutes (plenty long enough), decide whether the real-time/current experience matches my memories, leave without buying it, sit and think for a few days at home, and then – if I decide to move on it – drive all the way back with the funds.
The instrument’s owner is being very accommodating, in this regard.
Be fairly pricey – as well as a “want“ vs. a need, I feel the necessity to move this slowly.

You obviously were extremely impressed when you played one of those instruments before, and feel very confident that every single one of them is going to be absolutely like that-or-those you’ve previously experienced, so I congratulate you. 😎

For an embarrassingly long number of years, I have had a Swiss-NOT-Willson (and not beat up) euphonium sitting in the bloke attic, which needs probably one very long day – or perhaps two days – of my attention. Being that people are consistently raving over the Scandinavian-built instruments - which have their heritage in these Swiss instruments, I feel more and more compelled to pull out the Swiss instrument, bring it up to top condition, and find out what it’s all about. 😎

We'll find out. I do know the most responsive trombone I ever played had a silver bell. We’ll see

Silver is denser than brass. But if density made a difference, lead is even denser. But a lead bell wouldn’t be very pretty.
