I’ve seen and played the 25. 20??

Why did they stop making some of these things??

Used Meinl Weston 20 BBb tuba (SN: B-643) in lacquer with hard-shell MTS 1209V case. German built tuba has 16.25" upright bell and 4 rotor valves of .768" bore. Takes American shank tuba mouthpiece. Those in the know will tell you that the Model 20 plays better and is more in-tune than the larger bell Model 25. Dings, minor dents, scratches and lacquer wear as can be expected. This is a solid tuba with great compression in the rotors.

Not on the main web site yet.

It's up now: https://www.dillonmusic.com/used-meinl- ... -sn-b-643/

Several other good used horns there, including a beaten-up King BF that's at a low price. Just needs an upright bell to go with it.

I’m thinking that the model 20 disappeared - after reunification - when Gerhardt Meinl was (basically) given B&S (yes?), and - thus - the “VMI” instruments appeared. I personally believe that the four-rotor small 4/4 VMI B-flat was probably the model 20 Geretsried bugle with a Markneukirchen valve section pasted on it.

I always thought of the model 20 as a 185.5,

and the model 25 as a “Kaiser, Jr.”
