Hard case in SF Bay... almost FREE

Post by greenbean »

I have Willson-branded hard case in decent shape that needs a new home. Appears to have been built for a tuba 36" to 37" tall with 19" bell. A 20" bell might fit - I would need to take another look. I put my B & M tuba in it (37.5" and 19" bell) and it BARELY fit. It was a squeeze and I won't do it again. Someone put wheels on it - which is a good idea; this is not a light case. But it will last forever.

I would like $40 for it. Why $40 and not, say, $35? Because 20-dollar bills divide nicely into $40. Also, I would be happy to put this on a GH bus. The case is in Richmond CA right now, but I would be willing to meet pretty much anywhere in the Bay Area.

Just under 37” with 18.75” bell.

I’ll take it if it’s still available.

That case was set up for the 3200 and 3400 FA-5 tubas. I have the same case for my Kurath F, which is a pre-Willson 3200. Of course, my case does not have a Willson sticker on it. I think these (yours and mine) are old Jacob Winter cases. Very well made and expensive. I would take it if I could afford the bus ticket right now, but alas…!

I've always viewed those wood cases as a cut (or three cuts) above the typical GWW/Costa Rico-made wood cases. :smilie8:

SOLD.

(Seemed more like a typical, possibly DEG-sourced, generic Tolex-covered plywood case.)

There was/is a cheaper grade made/offered.
That one is a bit better.
