There are some younger people out there with good Instagram pages:
Good to see some of these young players working hard and raising the bar!

The Official Tuba Forum Instagram page is up and running!
Some of the positive vibes that are being put out on the page. Reposting good stuff from the community and facilitating further conversation via providing a better platform (this forum) for discussion.
If you have an Instagram account and haven’t followed yet, please do!

The young man sitting in front of the Capitol is a Zach Bridges, a former student of mine, and a great friend. It's always an amazing feeling seeing that student teacher relationship turn into real friendship.
Thanks for doing this Matt, I'm excited that this could be a nice branch of the website, potentially reaching far number of people on a daily basis than the main forum does

A couple of the recent posts. Some great stuff is on Instagram!
One great aspect of this social media account is that it can serve as a guidepost for anyone looking to simply find tuba related stuff by looking through the accounts associated with the Tuba Forum Instagram. If you want to just have an IG account that follows tuba and euphonium things, this will be a solid launch pad.

I like to post photos and then write a lot about each one, as you well know. So, is Instagram a platform geared to that sort of thing? Is this where I *should* have been posting all my restoration stuff all along? Or is that Pinterest? I have no experience with either.

I dont think most people really read the descriptions in depth for each Pic beyond a blurb, but a Pic, a short blurb and dropping a link back to Your main thread here. That gives you visibility and also brings traffic here.
Until you get some followers, you should tag your post with terms like #tuba and #miraphone so people that follow those hashtags see your posts. We can help to by reposting your stuff on our page

Instagram does have a caption limit and limits your to ten photos/videos per post. However, it is a nice place to locate all of your stuff simply because the dashboard is laid out well and you can find posts pretty quickly that way. It’s much more archive like than Facebook which is more like a stream of consciousness when it comes to the layout.

Dave Werden is putting some interesting content on Instagram.
For those of you late adopters (I’ve been on Instagram since 2011...), the Tuba Forum account will serve as a guidepost to the online tuba community. There’s about 300 accounts that the TF account is following comprising of students, pros, hobbyists, orchestras, etc. This will continue to expand for a while since the “tuning algorithms” for IG are learning what the account likes and reacts accordingly with recommendations.
But yeah, even if you’re likely to be a passive consumer of IG content, hopefully the TF account can help you find your way.

Dropping this here as an example of the Wessex California F tuba in the hands of a quite capable player.

In instagram terms that's nothing, but for a tuba page less than a month old it's amazing!
thanks for the work you do on it

You’ve been posting some good stuff also and the woodworker find was a huge bonus.

The account is at 600 followers now.
It’s mostly younger people, but they are very active and passionate about music, it seems.
Hopefully some more of them pop in and become more active here.
