The small buffer (in the corner, that is no longer used) is something that I built from 2x4's - several decades ago - for buffing small parts.
This should be a good replacement.
Truth be told, that wooden thing still works, but Mrs. bloke might like this one for buffing her woodwind parts (etc.)
She has a choice of four other machines ("Hoss" - 2 hp/3000 rpm; "Buster" - 3 hp, 2500 rpm, 3-phase; "Buddy" 1/2 hp, 1750 rpm, and "Smoochie" 1/2 hp, 3450 rpm...all are double-sided) but this one is faster than one the two smaller ones - and lower hp than the the faster of the smaller ones, so it might suit her better than either of those. I think she'll like the cast-iron box (for parts), and suspect that she'll find a cardboard box that "just" fits down inside it. Also, this is a great place to install worn-out 8" buffs - once they've worn down to 5-1/2" or 6".
bloke "I've never gone shopping for either a buffer or a grinder...I just pick 'em up when people are offering them cheap...and I guess I'll name this one 'Rosie'."

Mmmm. Since it is a grinder and not a pneumatic hammer, would that be Rosie De- Riveter?
