The Oregon Tuba Ensemble is selling a Mirafone 188 5 valve CC tuba. A serial number of 12xxx puts it around 1980. The horn is in very good shape. There are two bell creases which have been rolled out and a number of dents and lacquer wear that would be expected of the horn's age. Upon closer 8nspection we have discovered some corrosion in the upper outer bow. It has additional slides for the MTS and 5th valve to bring the tuning down to BBb. It comes with a Reunion Blues gig bag and the original C4 mouthpiece. We will repost a price when repair costs are determined.. Is that nickel silver for all the valve-related tubing?

I believe it is. I will try to determine for sure.

People besides me would know better, but if all the valve tubing and slides are uniformly nickel-silver, along with the lead pipe, and if the body is gold brass instead of yellow brass, then it might be an "Anniversary" version, like the one in this saga: viewtopic.php?t=2326. So you might check on that, too.

At the suggestion of jtm, I did do a bit more research on the horn, finding the thread at viewtopic.php?p=38821. So it appears that the horn we're selling is the "Anniversary Edition" with the nickel-silver valve set and a similar horn sold a few weeks ago at $7,500. So our price is reasonably appropriate.
