That thing has been there for a LONG time. My brother lives within a couple of miles of there... maybe I can convince him to run over there and play one note on it to find out.

I think they've lowered the price since I first saw it. Maybe folks were scared off by the tuning stick and the fact that it played significantly sharp for a BBb.

Haha.
I figured it was still there because it's ugly, and a relatively short drive from one of the few actual tuba stores on the whole country.
Also, because Chinese tubas.

If it is a C (??), most of those that I've played feature a mile-high second-space C, so the gadget is sorta needed...(??)

Piggys in CC are like old Alexanders in CC: When you get one of the rare "good ones," it's GOOD. The bad ones, however, are BAD. And most of the in-between are not very desirable. A tuning jigger could mean an adjustment is needed for a couple of notes, or it could mean that your left arm is going to rival Popeye's with all the friggin' jiggin' work you'll be doing.

Were I to guess based on the pix, I would guess this horn has had an active life and is thus more likely to be one of the better ones. Too far from me to try, however.

The ones on which people have asked me to put gadgets like that have all featured a very sharp second space C.
