British F Tuba register / North Texas / Miami

Mike Johnson in the UK is putting together a British F Tuba register.

I understand that both the University of Miami and the University of North Texas both had 3+1 Besson F tubas.

If those are still around, is there anyone who could get their serial numbers and send them to Mike? If you don't know Mike, you could give them to me and I'll pass them along.

If there are any other British made F tubas which you are aware of/own/know the location of/have access to/whatever which aren't the two above, feel free to send him the serial number and description if possible. If you don't know Mike, I'll be happy to pass the information along.

I will try to get the UNT one. I recorded the Berlioz Overture to Benvenuto Cellini on that thing. Great sound and power, extremely weird fingerings due to the compensation. I don't think they corrected the loops from the Eb valve set. Ewwwwww…

Query sent. We'll see. If I get it I will just pass it on to Mike directly, now that I know he wants the info.

DONE!

I got the info from Don and messaged Mike. So that is one of your two listed horns identified. It has a low serial number, like 1408, and was purchased by NTSU in the 1950s.

No, Mike wants to know about British-MADE F tubas in the US, like the Barlow, B&H, and Besson horns of yesteryear. The ones listed here are both the rare 3+1 Besson compensating F tubas. The one at UNT was purchased in the 1950s.

Mike is not interested in Chinese-made tubas that are named "British" as in this case.
