I’ve tried all of them.

The Mack played the best, but had some valve issues- they would stick obnoxiously, all the time. That’s probably resolved by now.

The Eastman was built well enough. The valves got pretty loud but I’ll attribute that to the fact that it desperately needed a cleaning. I just didn’t like how it played. It was about as stereotypical as a rotary F can get.

The Wessex I just don’t like. Didn’t like how it played or felt to hold, and I think the other two are of better quality. It’s also the one I have the least experience with as I only briefly played it at Midwest. YMMV.

A friend of mine that teaches brass students told me that if you are going to get a Chinese horn, stick with Mack Brass. I decided on a used Miraphone which was about twice the price of a new Mack Brass, but the valves are real smooooooth and it came with a better case.

I just tried the Eastman 866 today, and i have to say, it's a great Tuba. Sound is good, valves are ok... so nothing bad to say! The 6 valve version is much better than the 5 valve version.
