Anyone ever played one of these? I assume it’s one of those “master of none” situations but it’s certainly cool looking. (Taken from Facebook)

"Heavy for its size" is good for picking out grapefruit, but not for tubas.

Thant is no double tuba!
That's a normal F with Quint valve. The 7th valve is to improve the tune with the Quint valve...
It looks a Alexander/B&S...

I have seen a number of tubas with this configuration in European blasmusik ensembles. So many that I began to assume it was a regular feature in those groups.

Alexander’s are hand made so I’m not sure if a user’s reviews will do you any good.
I’ve played on both kinds of doubles and I wasn’t impressed, and the full double was one they had in their own show room.
Too stuffy and too many intonation quirks.
This doesn’t mean that there aren’t any out their worth while to play on. But considering all the complications you can run into I’m not sure it’s worth the gamble.
To put it another way: if they were that great then I think we (as a community) would have heard about it by now.
Good luck
