I purchased Drew Fennell’s arrangement of André Campra’s “Rigaudon” from www.matonizz.com. They provide top shelf brass playing on top shelf arrangements. Check them out. While our recording is not perfect, we used the backing tracks to play along with tuba and organ here at home (Sorry, I couldn’t cover the optional tympani part). Lots of possibilities for live performances and online collaboration.
They posted one on FB a couple days ago that was really nice, and playable by decent amateurs. They do nice stuff and sound fantastic.
you know, I just went through their web site part way looking for brass quintets. I found it just about impossible to tell what the instrumentations were and just gave up after about seven pages. One would have five faces on the cover and then you go look at it and they are playing seven or eight parts. Too much work to just find out what they have, and I sent them an email suggesting they organize it by instrumentation since many of us don't have a variable ensemble and are looking for specific things like brass quintet, brass quartet, brass trio. Hopefully they listen because if I gave up, others will too.
