Yamaha YBB631

Post by JosiahStovell »

Hi all,
Just signed up to this site - happy to be here!
I'm actually a *cough cough* trombone player by trade, but have come in to possession of a lovely 'little' Yamaha Bb bass (YBB631, according to the valving). I'm keen to have some vague idea of its value (good condition, great sound, recently serviced, slightly dented asthetically) - does anyone have any ideas? I can send pictures if that helps.
Thanks so much!
Josiah

Is this the early four valve compensating model they made which featured the smaller .689 inch bore size?

I’ve never had the opportunity to play one, and the one I just described (I’m thinking am I identifying it correctly) has always intrigued me.

With that smaller bore size on a B-flat, I would imagine that it’s sort of a “compensating King”.

Last one I saw for sale was $2800, I think. Ghost of the ad is here. Likely it's "worth" more, assuming it's in good shape and you can find the right buyer.
