knocked out two tenor saxophone repairs and one baritone saxophone repair yesterday until late and into today, in spite of also entertaining and cooking for my houseguest…average: $200 per repair.
I combined errands near that school of banking, picking up a repaired trailer, buying new 16 foot boards for same trailer, and delivering the saxophones today. Yet another saxophone had been kicked, which had been previously been set on the ground (not a good idea). I saw that the octave key was barely out of adjustment because the neck had been bent down, I rebent the neck, adjusted the octave key, shrugged my shoulders, and handed it back to them.
I’m pretty sure this is the way to keep school repair accounts.

Today, she helped me replace these two boards (2X12X16, treated, wet, expensive, tight squeeze - other boards had NOT shrunk, several tricks involved in getting them in place). We also had to rout (redneck method - with a circular saw) those two places (seen), so those two metal bands would bolt back in place, below the surface. notice: Only the last (narrower) board on the right has a small space between it and the adjacent board. that one had to tuck in to both ends AND the side, so - when we originally installed all the boards - that one had to have a little room to shimmy it in place.

After that I loaded up the mower and took it to my friends house (who has a big gear-puller) so I could remove the played-out-after-all-these-years PTO (clutch) and bolt on a new one. ($260 - eBay - beats taking it to the JD dealer, and asking them to "fix what's wrong"...probably saving 80%...I could just imagine them charging me a grand for a new PTO and installation labor.)



(I'm thinking/hoping that the last little "stingy" place from all of that surgery is finally beginning to heal. I "felt" it once or twice today - barely - but no stinging...and I contorted myself and exerted myself a LOT, today. I was actually having to NOT take in as much as as I - sorta - needed sometimes, to play, to avoid irritating that "hurty" place.)
