I'd go $400. I played one in high school and have fond memories. $2000? No way.
Packer/Sterling JP377 compensating Eb; Mercer & Barker MBUZ5 (Tim Buzbee "Lone ☆ Star" F-tuba mouthpiece), Mercer & Barker MB3; for sale: Conn Monster Eb 1914, Fillmore Bros 1/4 Eb ca. 1905 antique (still plays), Bach 42B trombone

Re: Reynolds Contempora Sousaphone $2,000 (Minneapolis Craigslist)
With 50% - 100% inflation on most things we buy, I believe the days of the $400 playable sousaphone are long past and never to return.
Instruments like this need pictures of the valves removed from the instrument, and more discussion of the valves’ condition - particularly now that rebuild jobs are all in the four figures range…
…and I don’t know of many neck and bits sets that are much under $200
If anyone anywhere close to me negotiates a deal on that thing - and hopefully it has good valves - I can get it looking a lot better on a one day visit for probably reasonable money.
I’ve always thought of Olds and Reynolds as sort of being a cross between a King (same 11/16” bore size) and the larger-than-King (smaller discontinued 14K-size) Conn.

Re: Reynolds Contempora Sousaphone $2,000 (Minneapolis Craigslist)
Is it just me, or does the picture where they're showing the engraving look like it's from an upright bell tuba (7th picture)? The flare doesn't seem to be wide enough for the sousaphone.
And in pictures 9, 10, and 11, it looks like someone "touched it up" with gold paint. Just curious...
