Similar-designed (larger) screws on Wenger products are subject to a tremendous amount of torque, and are responsible for supporting $XX,XXX worth of equipment without failing.
This one features a 1" diameter plastic knurled head and a 5/16 x 24 SAE thread...and I'm sure there are the more-commonly-needed 1/4 x 20 as well (but I ain't outah them, yet).

I don't pay fancy prices like this (as I buy direct), but I have to pay "fancy-enough" prices, and - currently - there doesn't seem to be a parts person who will respond to emails up there in michiana.

Oh yeah...lately, they've been drilling out the holes as large as the threads, so the tips are only needed for older ones. Further, the tips dent the male collars worse than the ends of the 5/16" screws do.
I'm going to try these out on school sousaphones which have lost theirs...
