As loud as those blatts might sound on whomever's-this-if phone video, I could BARELY hear myself playing them.
Based on the fact that the trumpets were sitting down in the back, I believe this was the first read-through of the charts.
We (sort of) read through (some of) most of them roughly twice. ' seemed like a bunch of screwing around and chatter, but it pays the same either way, yes?

Yes you can hear those blatts (Eb? D?) on that phone. Most phones don't do that well with bass.

Is this to make the sound brighter and more bass trombone like? I liked the sound, but (probably because I already knew) thought it sounded larger than a bass trombone. Probably worked well because trombone #3 had their act together. I can't stand a section that has a monster bass (only), or great upper bones and a wimpy bass.

I had been using a mouthpiece that (other than the small shank and a 1/2 mm smaller cup opening) just about the same as I use on my F tuba.

This mouthpiece's cup is roughly 1/8" shallower, the cup width is the same, and the throat is a good bit smaller (7.Xmm)

It's much more >> balanced << with this instrument, and (again: likely) better for exceptionally small tubas...

...and typical/good contrabass trombone mouthpieces (ex: Elliott) are too small/underpowered for the cimbasso (in my experience).

You may not have read any of my previous comments, but it's also easier to play very high. I had a couple of A-flats "up there" in these charts, and (sure: high) this mouthpiece offered easy access. At home, I found that I could produce a focused/"real" resonance up to roughly D above that (with this mouthpiece), but could also play down to the bottom of the range of this instrument (which is several white keys on the piano lower than I ever encounter in written music).

I'm thinking that I sounded louder on that phone video (made from just outside the proscenium of the stage) that in the P.A. mix...because the trumpets and trombones were not miked.

This probably isn't for everyone, but - if it's good for one person (me) for some uses - it's likely to be good for some others for various specific purposes.
