Did they even make an Eb model? I have never heard of one, but I only really know the 163 BBb and CC…

Yeah there is a few out there. I really just love the Alex bass tuba sound, but I don’t want to invest the $X,XXX to experiment.

Save up your dough, learn F tuba, and be converted.
My Vienna-style 3+3 Alex 157 was an awesome, awesome instrument. Absolutely gorgeous sound.
Good luck!

I can play F tuba fine. I just figured there’s no such thing as a cheap Alex F. Plenty of 3&4 valve Eb tubas exists, but rarely a F can be found.

My 3+3 was $4,000... but owe that to the weird layout. Most conventional 5 or 6 valve Alexes I've seen are higher.
I hope you find something!

There are nice examples of 4v Eb and F's, but you're going to want the 5th valve. So much lit takes things into that lower range so quickly. Save the $$ and get something you're going to be happy with rather than to satisfy the itch!

Seems like these come in waves... I think there were several for sale within the last year.
And for what it's worth, there are still quite a few for-sale ads on the old site that aren't cross-listed here (and I think an Alex F was one of them). I can't recall anything available right now, but will keep my eyes out.
