FS: small miraphone gig bag, $100+postage

Post by ronr »

Sized to fit a Yamaha YBB621 and similar sized-horn. Some slight damage in the inside top of the case. Top is fitted with Gard foam inserts for additional protection for the bell. I can’t figure out how to shrink pictures to post so pm at

You don't want this for an instrument you just recently acquired?

I’d rather not slide a horn with piston valves into a top-opening bag.

I don't know what it would be, but someone should come up with some really quick-to-pop-on velcro thing that holds down the valve stems and buttons for insertion into top loading tuba bags, yes?

My dad designed and created a custom piece of wood with properly placed holes that worked extremely well for a Holton I owned 100 years ago. For this one I’ve absconded with a piece of Tupperware that I think will fill the bill, for as long as I’m allowed to hang onto it.

I believe it’s either a 150100 or a 150102

Does anyone know...

If the Miraphone bag is for a 16.5" bell, any chance of forcing a 17" bell in there? Just not sure if there's anyl leeway...

Asking for a friend...

I “designed” and 3D printed something similar that goes over the valves, with holes that fit over the valve casings and smaller holes that accept the finger buttons but bottom out on the top valve caps. Rounded top. Works perfect-ish.

Wade and I are doing cases.

They're heavy.

Neither of us are young.

I suspect we both have knee/foot issues from time-to-time.

We did too much dialing-in to our horns to watch them collect a bunch of bag dents.

I still have my bags, just in case I absolutely can't pick up the tuba-and-case, but need the gig-dough.

I had a Miraphone blue gig bag for several years in NYC, navigated the subway, buses, walking who knows how many miles....

...dents?! There were no new dents... and I could hardly believe that MORE dents would happen from transporting it mostly in the back of a vehicle. What the heck are you guys doing to your tubas to get dents through a decent gig bag?

Maybe that is one of those Professionals only secrets...

Now that we've completely side tracked this thread, somebody buy this bag. If it would fit a 17" bell, I'd likely buy it for the same model tuba (Martin Medium Eb) that @bort2.0 is wondering about it fitting.

I'll let you know in about 5 hours. :)

The upshot is that if the Martin doesn't fit, my 1895 Conn Eb would certainly fit (30" tall, 14" bell). Of course, the bag would be >3x the cost of the tuba... and it never leaves the house...

I think I'm second in line after you, so here's hoping it doesn't fit! 😉
