For sale is the ubiquitous Yamaha YBB-321 BBb 4/4 Tuba. This is the purple logo variant, made in Japan in the mid 1980’s. It has 4 piston valves in the upright position, .728-.768 bore, 17.5” bell, is 40” tall and weighs 23 lbs.
It’s a full size Tuba, and it feels and sounds that way. It has a big clear tone from top to bottom, and plays in tune without having to adjust the slides much. Considered an intermediate level horn, it's tough enough to handle the abuse of the school system, but would make a great player for anyone of any age in concert bands, wind ensembles, symphonies, ect.
It was professionally overhauled in December, including an ultrasonic bath. It has good valve compression, responsiveness, and all slides pull with relative ease. It has its share of cosmetic wear, but has not been abused. The lacquer is in great condition for its age, the bell is in great shape and it’s free of any cracks. The only notable dent is at the bottom curve of the bow, seen in the last pic.
This is a great horn- a solid reliable player that will last for years to come.
Included with the horn is a ProTec C240 gig bag and an Adamson AW24 mouthpiece, both purchased new in December. Asking $2800, which is exactly what I'm into it.
I'm in Los Angeles, Ca. Local sale is preferred, but I'm happy to discuss shipping with a serious buyer. Feel free to contact me (Josh) at 310.953.1420.
